Franklin D. Roosevelt Office Conversation. We have reason to believe that this conversation is a continuation of the coversation above with A. Philip Randolph. Most of the recording consists of Roosevelt and Frank Knox discussing the issue of African-Americans in the Navy. We believe Randolph can be heard briefly during the discussion.
A digital copy of this White House recording has been provided by the Miller Center of Public Affairs. For more information on this and other recordings, visit the Miller Center's Scripps Library.
A two part conversation (see 3 for the first part) between Roosevelt and A. Phillip Randolph, the leader of a Sleeping Car Conductor Union! Mind you, you can barely hear what each other says (there is a bit of war talk going on) but just the fact that you can hear these 2 and shoot the breeze is surely curious!
